Mark Slippy, M.A.

Mark Slippy is a Principal of Cobalt Strategies, Inc.  He advises clients on human resource strategies and issues and provides generalist consultation to business leaders, assisting organizations in meeting their business goals by maximizing their people strategies, programs and policies. His focus is to create high levels of employee engagement with his client groups through development of management competency, targeted compensation programs that align employee effort to business goals, effective employee relations, communication systems, and risk assessment strategies.

Mr. Slippy has over 20 years experience in Human Resource management, including work with early stage start ups, IPO's and Fortune 100 and 500 companies.  He has led the Human Resource effort for several companies and has broad experience in all Human Resource functions, including Human Resource Infrastructure Development, Employee Relations, Legal/Compliance, Recruitment, Compensation, Organization & People Development, Human Resource Information Systems/Operations and Benefits.  He has extensive experience in reorganization strategies, succession planning, and employee communications.

Prior to Cobalt Strategies, Mr. Slippy served as the Human Resource Director for GMAC ResCap's Wholesale division.  Mr. Slippy helped grow the division from 400 employees to 2,000, and as part of the management team, supported the company’s market position growth from 13th to 6th in 5 years.  Key Human Resource strategies in hiring, job and compensation design, and retention strategies, all focused efforts toward higher employee engagement and productivity.  Mr. Slippy was recognized twice with Celebrate Leadership awards for outstanding performance in support of the businesses growth.  Mr. Slippy has held senior management positions with Wink TV, Bidcom, Inc. and QuadraMed Inc.  Mr. Slippy's Human Resource career began at Price Waterhouse where he was part of the national recruitment effort and while in graduate school, started and successfully ran his own consulting practice including projects with Bank of America, Barclay's, Barra Software and several other San Francisco technology companies.  Mr. Slippy currently has board positions with two Bay Area organizations and is a member of Society for Human Resource Management.

Mr. Slippy has been recognized throughout his career as a key member of his organization's management teams and recently was awarded the distinguished Partner Award from GMAC for consistently high levels of contribution to the business over multiple years.  He has a Bachelor in Psychology from U.C. Davis and earned a Masters in Organization Behavior/Development from the California School of Professional Psychology.
